New Gun Law in Texas Gives a Wild Wild West Vibe

By now, most people have probably heard about the new gun law in Texas. If you don’t know about it, here’s a summary.

This new gun law allows individuals to carry a handgun without having a permit to carry, and they don’t need to know how to use it. That’s why it gives a wild wild west vibe.

Some people get shot at and killed even when they have a permit to carry. So one can only imagine the possible chaos with this new law.

This new gun law came into effect Sept 1, 2021 and it’s a little bit difficult to understand the need for such a law in the first place.

But when you realize that some people think carrying a gun is way more important than anything, you get a pretty grim picture of how some people/politicians think.

Reports of road rage shootings are on the rise.

With this new law, anything is possible, even if you carry or don’t carry, and it’s definitely something you should be aware of.

According to Bankrate, the top ranking states for road rage with a firearm are as follows:

  1. Florida
  2. Texas
  3. California
  4. Tennessee
  5. Pennsylvania

And road rage in these states has been increasing.

“So far in 2021, a person has been shot and either injured or killed in a road rage incident, every 18 hours on average. Over the past 12 months, the average number of people shot and killed or wounded in road rage shootings has nearly doubled. In the past four years, the monthly average was 22 deaths and injuries. So far this year, the monthly average has jumped to 42 deaths and injuries.”

So you definitely want to put things in place to protect yourself while you are on the road.

Make sure you have something like a dash cam to record actual events in case something happens. An actual video of the event would provide evidence, as opposed to having to deal with a he-said-she-said scenario.

New Gun Law in Texas Gives a Wild Wild West Vibe

According to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott the so-called “constitutional carry” legislation and other firearms bills protect gun rights and instills freedom in the Lone Star State.

Freedom to do what exactly? Shoot other people?

Understandably this new Texas gun law is cause for concern for level headed citizens and for the police as well. Of course it makes the job of law enforcement a bit more difficult.

Apart from putting residents in danger, there is the possibility of an increase in crime. Added to that, how do they distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys?

While some are disappointed that the bill was eventually passed, the same can’t be said for Texas gun shop owners or the Texas Gun Rights advocates.

Texas Gun shop owners would be happy about this law, as they can now sell to almost anyone. More sales mean more money.

“Texas is finally a pro-gun state despite years of foot-dragging, roadblocks, and excuses from the spineless political class,” Texas Gun Rights executive director Chris McNutt said in a statement after Abbott signed the bill. “I’m proud of the work grassroots gun owners have put in to get Texas Constitutional Carry finally signed into law.”

Texas Tribune

According to the Texas Tribune, most Texas voters opposed the idea of open carry anywhere, without a permit. But it seems that it was more important to appease the small group of individuals that wanted this law passed.

Was there a problem they were trying to fix by passing this new law? No one really knows. But when money talks, everything else walks, including some people’s integrity.

Road Rage Shooting

There are so many YouTube videos of people pulling out a gun to threaten or shoot at others because they feel “slighted” on the road. This is just one of those many videos.

When you look at this, you have to say thank God someone in that group exercised good judgement and took the gun away from that lady.

Be Careful

All we can say is be careful out there.

Watch your six, because this new gun law is giving a wild wild west vibe.

While we agree that guns don’t kill people, that people kill people, some just might be looking for any reason to do just that. A hot-tempered person with a gun is a crime waiting to happen.
